Suroosh’s old trip to the Gun Markets of Pakistan took the People’s Choice award for “News & Politics: Individual Episode,” blowing the ass off of the NYT’s Toxic Waters series (possibly disqualified for not being an individual episode–hello!), Huffpo’s thing about some guy who lost his house, and the AARP’s examination of the failed closing of an unsuccessful newspaper in Colorado. Take that, Big Retirement!
And The Vice Guide to Liberia swept both the official and People’s Choice awards in the “Travel & Adventure” category, soundly pounding the likes of National Geographic, Conde Nast Traveller, and Field [snort] & Stream.
