“LP” by Discovery – Album Review

discovery_lp_204Looks like Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij and Ra Ra Riot’s Wes Miles are trying to get all gangsta with their new experiment, Discovery! Uh, yeah I don’t like this album of theirs called “LP” (no wonder it was $3.99 yesterday on Amazon mp3). Listening to the first track “Orange Shirt”, I thought some rapper/R&B superstar was gonna start flowing into the mix of electro beats. It’s sounds far to R&B for me, as though Usher got electrocuted in a bath tub with Girl Talk. It just doesn’t sound right. In fact the whole album kind of annoys me, but then again I was in a bitter mood writing this review a couple days ago.

After two rounds of giving “LP” a fair listen, I just don’t hear or feel anything enticing about it. “Osaka Loop Line” is a bit trippy though, maybe I’d like it if I was eating some LSD filled strawberries at a bubbly candy rave in Disney Land.

Anyhow, I’m sure lots of scenster tweens will love this album.
