All good things come to an end. Looks like the bearded blues-man with voice of a soul brother is fleeing the nest. Dan Auerbach, front-man and guitar God of the amazing duo The Black Keys is going SOLO!
Needles, to say this does NOT mean the end of The Black Keys, although we all know what happens when the star of the band goes his own way for whatever reasons (sorry Pat, you rock Mr. Octopus …). I just don’t see how Dan has the time to do all this; The [...]
Check out this dreamy folk band straight out of Brooklyn. KaiserCartel, a sweet indie duo made up of a Courtney Kaiser and Benjamin Cartel. If you separate the two combined last names, that so smoothly make the name of their band, KaiserCartel, you get Kaiser Cartel. I think it reads better and makes them sound pretty bad ass, like some German alliance of hitmen. Yet when you pop in their music, you’re actually surprised to hear some soft strumming and delicate vocals: hard name, soft music–a sweet contradiction. Check em [...]

I have a friend that’s been collecting Shepard Fairey originals for the past 10 years or so. The arrays of portraits that grace his walls are pretty sic, not to mention he bought them for such a small figure back in the day. As the amazing Fairey grows more in popularity, the monetary value of his work continues to increase BIG! After all the widespread attention he received with his Obama portraits, the SMITHSONIAN is now pushing for a giant fine art version of SHEPARD FAIREY’s iconic portrait of the [...]
Click here for more!I know I lagged on putting these photos up, but here they are nonetheless (vid too!). As expected Roky was absolutely amazing to see perform live, as were The Black Angels. They played so well alongside Roky and complemented the music and style that makes Roky who he is, with ease. The Black Angels’ Alex Mass, played that electric jug as though it were straight out of an original “You’re Gonna Miss Me” performance. The show was epic, enough said.
PS ~ You gotta check this flick.
Hey NYC, check this shit out. If you’re “cool” man, I suggest you go. If you’re not cool but aspire to be cool, then I really suggest you go. Naw, but fo realz this event should be heaps of hip and fun, so make like a dog in heat and get on it.
Tickets to New York Magazine’s second annual “Bad Art Auction” are on sale now. Hosted by the hilarious Judah Friedlander of 30 Rock, the night will be rounded out with a full set performance by the [...]
So the blog that still gets the most comments on the good ole Grimy is my “Kotton Mouth Kings Suck.” Who knew so many zit faced, 16-year old potheads still figuring our their identity would have such intelligent things to say.
So I just read this new comment today. Not only did the bro-hoe in training, enlighten me about her passion for the “bro” culture, lifted trucks and all the finer things in life, but she let me in on a lil secret when filling out the comment page. Apparently there’s [...]
I remeber I had this song on my Myspace profile a couple years ago: “Whole Wide World” by Wreckless Eric. No surprise, but most of you probably have never even heard of him. If you’ve ever seen “Stranger Than Fiction,” Will Farrel does a really sweet rendition. And I mean “sweet” as in lovely, not “rad.” I think this flick really turned more ears onto Eric and this awesome song. Anyhow, check out the vintage video below. If you know you’re shit, you just may figure the familiar faces in [...]
Click here for more!So I kinda stole a really cool shirt of my boyfriend’s. Let me rephrase, he left it here and I haven’t attempted to remind him about it, so now it has become a very comfy addition to my sleeping collection. I love the art work on it and apparently so does Vans.
Check out this hot new collabo! Rebel8 and Vans have teamed up for the Mike Giant Pack. The San Francisco based Rebel8, is the tattoo/graffiti/skate brand that is owned by Mike Giant and partner Joshy D. Rebel8 has been [...]
MTV actually doing something music related? Whaaaaaa???? I know this may be hard to fathom but MTV, which stands for Music Television in case anyone forgot, which I know I sure as shit did, just released its new Web site MTV Music. It has EVERY single video ever played on the music network. From 80’s new wave to the grungy 90’s, there’s whole lot of nostalgia to be shared. I remember being a kid watching the latest and greatest videos from my favorite bands and actually getting amped on them. [...]
